History
The Integrated Research and Training Center (IRTC) of the Technological University of the Philippines was established in 1982 as a result of a three- tiered assistance program from the government of Japan thru the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The grant of $8.5M included the construction of a five-storey building, core pieces of training equipment and users’ training. The IRTC five-storey building is located inside the Manila campus of TUP at Ayala Boulevard corner San Marcelino Street. It provides facilities in the following areas: material engineering and testing, energy engineering, automation, communication, multimedia technology, manufacturing and production engineering.
Goals:
Efforts at the IRTC shall be harmonized and focused on the attainment of the following goals:
1. To strengthen the main application streams with superior products, processes and systems in engineering and related fields;
2. To promote quality and relevance in technology and engineering education with development contents, delivery systems and programs; and
3. To sustain the technical advantages of faculty, staff and students through technical training.
