TUP receives research grant from USAID-STRIDE and RTI International

MANILA – The Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) received aresearch grant of approximately USD21,300 from the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID)- Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) Program and RTI International to undertake a pilot-testing and application of the "Automated Chicken Manure Toxicity Level Reducer System Using Optimized Activated Effective Microorganisms -1 (AEM-1) Solution" in some selected poultry farms.The Certificate of Recognition for the grant was presented on March 17, 2017 and received by Engr. Nilo M. Arago, Principal Investigator.

Engr. Nilo M. Arago receives a Certificate of Recognition from US Ambassador to the Philippines, Sung Kim in relation to the USD21,300 research grant of USAID -STRIDEfor the study entitled "Automated Chicken Manure Toxicity Level Reducer System Using Optimized Activated Effective Microorganisms -1 (AEM-1) Solution."

The research aims to find out the effectiveness of AEM-1 solution in reducing the harmful odours and gases produced by chicken manures in poultry farms. Being performed in partnership with Green Chemicals Corporation, the studyis expected to be completed on September 16, 2017.In the final results of the experiments, it is expected that AEM-1 solution will be found effective thus, bring in a healthy environment among communities situated close to poultry farms.
