TUP Welcomes Delegates from Kaoshiung, Taiwan

MANILA - Delegates from Kaoshiung, Taiwan were courteously welcomed on their visit to the Technological University of the Philippineslast February 11, 2017. They specifically wanted to discuss about a possible network link with TUP concerning the provision of student and faculty exchange program, scholarships, student industrial training, research and graduate programsandthe entrustment of support to the establishment of TUP Centerfor Industrial Development and Productivity (TUP-CINDEP), future campus of TUP in Clark City, Pampanga.

The reception that took place at the Office of TUP President started with a usual opening program. The highlights of which were the messages from Dr. Adora S. Pili, TUP President; Dr. Ching-Yu Yang, President, National Kaoshiung University of Applied Sciences (KUAS); Dr. Herchang Ay, President, St. John’s University (SJU) and Dr. Hung-Yi Chuang, Chief, Office of Global Affairs, Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU). Another important part of the program was the presentation about Clark Green City and the lot allotment for TUP-CINDEP made by Arch. Andrea Karla M. Dorotan, Consultant, Clark Green City (CGC) Base Conversion Development (BCDA). The eight guests from Kaoshiung, Taiwan were, Kaoshiung Medical University (KMU) - Dr. Hung-Yi Chuang, Chief, Office of Global Affairs; Fang-Jung Chang, Deputy Chief, Office of Global Affairs; National Kaoshiung University of Applied Sciences (KUAS) - Dr.Ching-Yu Yang, President; Dr. Jui-Fang Chang, Vice Dean, Office of International Affairs; Dr. Mingyu Liao, Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management; St. John’s University (SJU) – Dr. Herchang Ay, President; Shu-Te University – Dr. Eing-Ming Wu, Chair Professor; and Kindness Hotel - Dr. Pao Cheng Chen (Picasso), President. From the BCDA, present were Arch. Andrea Karla M. Dorotan, Consultant, Clark Green City (CGC), BCDA and Ms. Joan Grace N. Ortilla, Business Development Officer.

Officials from TUP were, Dr. Adora S. Pili, President; Dr. Dionisio A. Espression, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Ronaldo A. Juanatas, Vice President for Planning Development and Information System; Engr. Felipe Ronald A. Argamosa, Vice President for Research and Extension; Dr.Selfa J. Biones, Director, TUP Taguig; Dr. Myrna M. Tepora, Director, TUP Cavite; Dr. Gina L. Basa, Director, International//Institutional Linkages and External Affairs Office; and Prof. Michaela O. Andrada, Special Assistant to the President.

Finally, from Taipei Economics and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines was Director Jerry Cheng-an Chuang. Director Chuang expressed his desire to continue the possible networking with Kaoshiung, Taiwan’s business people, universities, colleges and industries to match the needs of TUP thru TECO.

The whole event was facilitated by Dr. Basa, Director, IILEAO, under the Office of the Vice President for Planning Development and Information System (OVPPDIS).
