Ang Kwento ni Prez

I am well pleased to have had the honor to speak before the employees and faculty members of the TUP in Cavite on the occasion of the awarding of your ISO 9001:2015 certificate last December 5, 2018 at the elegant Taal Vista Hotel. The ISO award is not an idle award but is proof that the institution being awarded has complied with the stringent standards of the International Organization for Standardization. 

According to www.certificationeurope.com, 

"ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) is internationally recognised as the world’s leading quality management standard and has been implemented by over one million organisations in over 170 countries globally. ISO 9001 implemented, to its full potential, becomes an invaluable asset to your organisation. 

The purpose of the standard is to assist companies in meeting statutory and regulatory requirements relating to their product while achieving excellence in their customer service and delivery. The standard can be used throughout an organisation to improve the performance or within a particular site, plant or department." 

The award means that the TUPC has the capability of giving the best service to its clients, particularly the students and the community. This is the most important essence of a university. The extremely utilitarian view of higher education as a dispenser of technical and practical knowledge and skills as necessary preparations for a career is important, and this seems to be the greatest influence to the TUP mindset. But even technical education should go beyond this utilitarian mission. 

The University should aim to include the development of the whole person, to prepare him to think, to cultivate his creativity, to help him develop maturity. The University should develop in the students a passion for social and cultural responsibility, a passion and love for life and learning. Our graduates should become thoughtful and caring citizens who shall dedicate part of themselves in being relevant and helpful to the community. 

Our job is not done after this award. Our job has just began. The success of any endeavor lies in our capacity to work hard for the University. 

The Technological University of the Philippines is our home. It is the house where we live. We must always do our best for our University.
